Microsoft Outlook Express & Outlook
- Start Outlook Express or Outlook
- Click Tools on the toolbar
- Click Accounts
- Click on the account you want to use on Mail tab
- Click Properties
- In the account properties dialog box, choose the Servers tab
- Put a check in the box for "My server requires authentication"
- Click the Settings button.
- The following window will open
- Make sure "Use same settings as my incoming mail server" is selected.
- Click OK
- Click OK
- Click OK until all windows are closed
Netscape Mail
- Open Communicator
- Click the Edit menu
- Select Preferences
- Select Mail & Newsgroups
- Expand Mail & Newsgroups
- Select the Mail Servers under Mail & Newsgroups heading
- Type the server name in the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server box
- Type your e-mail user name in Outgoing mail server user name box
- Click OK
Eudora Mail
- On a Windows workstation, open Eudora
- Click Tools
- Select Options
- Select Getting Started on the left-hand side
- Type the server name in the SMTP Server box
- Put a check in Allow authentication
- Click OK
Pegasus Mail
- Open Pegasus Mail
- Click Tools
- Select Internet Options
- Select the Sending (SMTP) tab
- Place a check in the Authentication section next to Login using my POP3 settings for username and password
- Click OK
- Close Pegasus
- Restart

Note:
- The file name in the error message that you receive depends on your type of upgrade.
- If you upgrade over Outlook 2000 in Corporate or Workgroup (CW) mode, the filename is Pstprx.dll.
- If you upgrade over Outlook 2000 in IMO mode, the filename is Pstprx32.dll.

Solution

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Office XP.

Workaround

Method 1: Change Profiles
- Close Outlook 2002.
- Click Start
- Point to Settings
- Click Control Panel
- Double-click Mail.
- Click Show Profile
- In the box that reads The following profiles are setup on this computer, verify if there are two profiles listed
- If there are two profiles listed and Outlook is configured to use a profile named Microsoft Outlook Internet Settings, the profile may be damaged
- Configure Outlook to use the second profile
- To do this:
  - Click Always use this profile,
  - In the box below this selection, click on the second profile listing
  - Click OK
Method 2: Manually Create a Profile for Outlook 2002
- Close Outlook 2002.
- Click Start
- Point to Settings
- Click Control Panel
- Double-click Mail
- Click Show Profiles
- Click Add
- Name the profile
- Click OK
- Click Add a new e-mail account
- Click Next
- Click a type of account
- Click Next
- In the E-mail Accounts dialog box, enter the necessary information
- Click Next
- Click Finish.
- If the Always use this profile option is selected, select the profile that you just created
- Click OK
- Note: In some cases you may need to click the Prompt for Profile option to correct this problem after you create a new profile

"0x80040119" And "Unknown Error" Error Messages When You Try To Read, Send, Receive, Or Delete E-Mail In Outlook

Note:
- Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer
- If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps
- To resolve this issue, try to repair the PST file. To do this, follow these steps:
  - Quit Outlook
  - Locate your Outlook PST file
    - Click Start
    - Click Search
    - Click All Files and Folders
    - In the All or part of the file name box, type
    - Change the selection in the Look in box to your local hard disk Local Disk (C:)
    - Click Search
  - Check your mail setup
    - Click Start
    - Click Control Panel
    - Click Other Control Panel Options
    - Click Mail
    - In the Mail Setup - Outlook dialog box, click Data Files
    - In the Outlook Data Files - Outlook dialog box click Open Folder
  - The Address box will contain the path of your Outlook PST file
- The Inbox Repair Tool should already be installed on your computer
- Find the Inbox Repair Tool
  - Click Start
  - Click Search
  - Click All Files and Folders
  - In the All or part of the file name box type
  - Change the selection in the Look in box to your local hard disk
  - Click Search
- Run the Inbox Repair Tool
  - Click Start
  - Click Run
  - In the Open box type the path of the Scanpst.exe file that you located above
  - Click OK to run the Inbox Repair Tool
  - In the Enter the name of the file you want to scan box type the path and file name of the Outlook PST file that you located above
  - Click Start
  - When the Inbox Repair Tool operation is completed click OK

Outlook Has Caused An Error In outllib,dll. Outlook Will Now Close

Error

If you receive the following error message:
- OUTLOOK caused an invalid page fault in module OUTLLIB.DLL at
- Outlook has caused an error in outllib.dll. Outlook will now close.

Solutions

Read all the following solutions, some are specific to certain problems

Method 1: Ensure Microsoft Outlook Express Is Installed and Functioning Correctly
- If Outlook Express is not installed or functioning correctly, components of Outlook may not function correctly
- Ensure that Outlook Express is installed and working without error
Method 2: Rename the Outcmd.dat File
- If the error occurs when you start Outlook, locate the file Outcmd.dat, rename it to Outcmd.old, then restart Outlook
  - Quit Outlook
  - Click Start
  - Point to Find
  - Click Files or Folders
  - In the Named box type
  - Click to select Include Subfolders
  - Click My Computer
  - Click Find Now
  - Click the file name in the results pane
  - Click Rename on the File menu
  - Type old in place of dat in the file name
  - Press Enter
  - Click Close on the File menu to close the Find window
  - Start Outlook
- Outcmd.dat stores any custom changes you make to your toolbar options
- If renaming this file solves the problem, you must recreate any toolbar customizations
Method 3: Disable Extensions
- If Outlook Does Not Start
- If Outlook does not start, try replacing the Extend.dat file
  - This file caches extension information gathered from the Windows registry
  - Quit all programs
  - Click Start
  - Point to Find
  - Click Files Or Folders
  - In the Named box type
  - In the Look In list
  - Click to select your hard drive
  - Click to select Include Subfolders
  - Click Find Now
  - In the Name list, right-click the file Extend.dat
  - On the shortcut menu, click Rename
  - Change the file extension from dat to old
  - Press Enter
  - On the File menu, click Close to quit Find File
  - Restart Outlook
  - Restarting Outlook creates a new Extend.dat file
- If Outlook Does Start
  - If you can start Outlook and you suspect an extension problem:
    - Start Outlook
    - On the Tools menu click Options
    - Click the Other tab
    - Click Advanced Options
    - Click Add-In Manager
    - In the Add-in list click to clear the check box for the add-in you suspect
    - Click OK three times to close all dialog boxes
Method 4: Start in Safe Mode
- Start Outlook with the /safe command-line switch
- This causes Outlook to load without COM Add-ins and extensions
- If starting in Safe Mode resolves the issue then you may want to examine how Safe Mode starts your computer
Method 5: Run the Inbox Repair Tool on your Personal Folder
Method 6: Create a New Profile and Personal Folders File
- Note:
  - If you are using the Internet Mail Only (IMO) version of Outlook, skip to the section titled "Create a New Internet Mail Only (IMO) Profile."
  - If you are using the Corporate Workgroup version (CW) of Outlook, create a new Profile, and then create a new Personal Folders (.pst) file.
- Create a New Profile and PST file (CW)
  - In Windows Control Panel double-click the Mail And Fax icon. (The icon is a Mail icon if you did not install fax services)
  - On the Services tab
  - Click Show Profiles to list your profiles
  - Click Add to start the Inbox Setup Wizard
  - Check that the default is set to "Use the following information services"
  - Click to clear all services except the one you are troubleshooting.
  - For troubleshooting purposes, add only one service at a time
  - Click Nex and in the Profile Name box, type a name for the new profile
  - Follow the Inbox Setup Wizard prompts, answering the questions for your service.
  - Ensure you specify a new Personal Folders file (*.pst) and do not use the existing file when prompted by the wizard
  - Note: Because you are not using the old .pst file while troubleshooting, you may not see any of your old .pst folders or files
- Create a New Internet Mail Only (IMO) Profile
  - If you installed the Internet Mail Only version of Outlook, follow these steps:
    - Click Start
    - Point to Settings
    - Click Control Panel
    - Double-click the Mail icon
    - Select and remove each Internet mail account from the Internet Accounts Manager
    - Ensure you know all the Properties for each account before removing
    - Note: Do not remove Fax accounts
    - Add the Accounts back one at a time
- Create a New Personal Folders File (IMO)
  - Start Outlook
  - On the File menu
  - Point to New
  - Click Personal Folders File (.pst)
  - Select a location
  - Type a name
  - Click Create
  - Select any options you wish to use
  - Click OK
  - Note: Do not use the name "mailbox.pst"
  - On the View menu
  - Click Folder List if it is not already displayed
  - Right-click the new Personal Folders File
  - Click Properties
  - On the General tab
  - Click to select Deliver POP mail to this personal folders file
  - Click OK
Method 7: Reinstall Outlook
- Rename the Outllib.dll file and reinstall to repair the Outlook installation
  - Rename the Outllib.dll file
    - Click Start
    - Point to Find
    - Click Files Or Folders
    - In the Name box type
    - In the Look In list
    - Click to select the hard drive that contains Outlook
    - Click to select Include Subfolders
    - In the Name list
    - Right-click Outllib.dll
    - On the shortcut menu
    - Click Rename
    - Rename the file to Outllib.old
    - Press Enter
  - To Reinstall Outlook
    - Click Start
    - Point to Settings
    - Open Control Panel
    - In Control Panel
    - Double-click Add/Remove Programs
    - On the Install/Uninstall tab
    - Click to select Office 2000 Premium
    - Click Add/Remove
    - In the Maintenance Wizard
    - Click Repair Office
    - Click Repair errors in my Office 2000 Premium installation
    - Click Finish
    - Click OK
    - Restart Outlook
Method 8: Check your version of WinFax Pro
- If you have WinFax Pro installed and are using Outlook in the Internet Mail Only (IMO) setup configuration, check that your version of WinFax Pro is at least version 9.03

Method 9: Turn off Word as the E-mail Editor
- On the Tools menu
- Click Options
- On the Mail Format tab
- Click to clear the Use Microsoft Word to edit e-mail messages checkbox
- Click OK to save
- Close the Options

- Close all Outlook 2003 windows
- Click on Start
- Click Settings
- Click Control Panel
- Double-click Mail
- Select View or change existing e-mail accounts
- Click Next
- In the E-mail Accounts window
- Highlight Microsoft Exchange Server
- Click Change
- In the Exchange Sever Settings window
- Check the Use Cached Exchange Mode box

Outlook Crashes When Trying To Insert Signature.

Create the signature using MS Word.
Delete all signatures from within outlook: (Tools-Options-Mail Format-Signatures)
Open Microsoft Word (leaving outlook open)
Create the new signature: Tool-Options-General- E-mail Options Signatures.
If you wish to add a logo, then you have to do it from within Outlook (Step 1 above, then hit edit followed by advanced edit, insert picture).
Depending on the format of the picture an attachment symbol (paperclip) may appear on the e-mails sent. If the picture is in BMP format then no paperclip appears but a BMP Format is usually a very large file to be sent in an email.
